The world of Sundering Shadows is caught in a struggle between two newly awakened primordial entities who exert their will over the deities, people and lands!

With over 30,000 rooms, dozens of races and classes, and hundreds of feats and spells to choose from, Sundering Shadows is a huge MUD with almost endless possibilities for exploration. Our developers continue to add new updates, abilities, spells, races, and classes for additional character advancement options. Extensive customization allows you to define the character you like, from physical descriptions, to crafted and alterable equipment, to personality and background, we welcome them all.

Our avatars (Dungeon Masters) run both periodic and customized or requested quests and deeds for the players, from simple single session interactions, to medium-term plotlines and campaigns which can impact areas and history, to realm altering events involving invading armies or deities and other extraplanar beings. They are supported by our creators, who implement code to augment avatar plotlines (including unique rewards), all of which are influenced, or even initiated by players.

Our goal is your fun, so if you prefer to engage in competitive PvP, you’re in for a heart pounding, adrenaline fueled ride. If you’d prefer not to, you need not. If you’d like to get involved in or initiate schemes and shenanigans, all are welcome. If you’d rather keep to yourself and explore on your own, you can do that too. We take pride in the fact that we have achieved a masterful balance between roleplay and hack and slash elements that will be pleasing to all sorts of players. However you choose to engage, our helpful community will be there to assist you every step of the way. With our Discord server synced with the MUD, our players and staff are always available to assist newbies with mechanics and point them in the right direction, 24/7.
