HIGHLY RATED

I've been playing MUDs since I was a kid, starting about 25 years ago. Over the years, I’ve experienced a lot of unique and interesting games. After playing NukeFire for a week, I felt compelled to share my experience.

NukeFire immediately feels special. From the moment you enter, the welcoming community stands out. A global notification announces new players, and the player base is quick to answer questions or help with gear. It’s refreshing to see such a large, active community, which is rare in MUDs nowadays.

What makes NukeFire shine is its unique features. The remort system offers a vast array of classes, and reaching certain remort combinations allows you to PRESTIGE, unlocking even more powerful "super" classes. Each remort brings boosts, some known and others unexpected.

The TATTOO and IMPLANT systems let you augment your stats and gain special abilities, like shooting fireballs, poisonous quills, or even healing. With 39 wear positions, 24 tattoo slots, and 24 implant slots, the customization is incredible, offering endless ways to build your character.

Equipment in NukeFire is also a standout feature. Utilizing 256 xterm colors, the game brings items to life with vibrant visuals. It also supports VI players, offering brief modes for accessibility.

The world is enormous, with 200 unique areas and over 23,000 rooms, providing endless opportunities to explore. At higher levels, massive raids involving tons of players evoke nostalgia for the golden age of MUDs.

Dying is a normal part of NukeFire but handled in a way that’s not frustrating. Gear is easy to retrieve at the morgue, though mobs may occasionally snag your items. The community is quick to offer help if needed, making death feel like a minor setback.

The game’s humor is another highlight. From dark jokes to cursing mobs saying things like, "I can't see... I'm blind... f#&@ that!" the game’s tone is refreshing and fun. The humorous disclaimer when you log in sums it up:

WARNING: This mud does NOT have a traditional fantasy theme.

There may be things here which offend you. If you don't like it, QUIT now!!

Admins are highly active, pushing daily updates and engaging with players. They’re incredibly helpful, often recovering lost gear and hosting fun events. Recently, players who leveled up received tribble pets, creating a delightful army of fluff.

NukeFire offers countless ways to laugh, die, and have fun with great people. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new home.
