I have always been here.

I started playing Geas sometime during 2003 and while taking long pauses, I have never quite left and the game and the people continue to occupy my headspace.

The world is a mashup of popular fantasy concepts but manages to make it into its own thing. There is a heavy focus on good vs evil with one guild basically functioning as the antagonists. Gods are important and priests hold much social power on their respective regions.

Mechanically Geas plays like an intricate simulation where you do not get to see under the hood much. You get to see the results, like a critical mangling a limb, but not quite what caused the result like the hit roll in this instance. Skills range from 0-100 and are improved with use. Many of them you can just start using with some special skills being locked behind guilds.

Geas is basically classless but skills are grouped into loose classes like "these are fighter skills" and guilds funnel you into using specific skills but you are quite free when it comes to your build. Want to learn archery? Just pick a bow and shoot. Want to learn to sneak? Sneak.

Mechanically Geas is great and I could write endlessly about it. Luckily, the good people here are great too and the staff is friendly and responsive. Bugs and typos get squashed and new stuff slowly rolls in. After a long break, I feel exhilarated when logging back in. There isn't nothing quite like this one for me.

So try it out atleast, maybe it is what you have been looking for.
