Mirkwood

Mirkwood has been up and running since early 1994. Although the code has been heavily modified, you'll feel right at home if you're familiar with classic ROM gameplay. We've added lots of original areas to the game, and given many of the stock areas fresh coats of paint.

There are two continents in the game. Middle Earth, where you'll start your adventure in the city of Bree. Highlights of Middle Earth are places you'll be familiar with from the Lord of the Rings: Helm's Deep, Derndingle, the Shire, Isengard, the Scuttledells, and Mordor just to name a few.

The other continent, Thera, is where many of the stock, and wacky, areas are located. Perhaps the wackiest area is Skittletown, where the citizens are obsessed with Skittles.

The game went through a stale period of development once MUDs declined in popularity. Sadly, two of the active staff members passed away in 2023. We have two remaining active staff members who still update the game regularly. Mirkwood might not be the newest, flashiest MUD out there, but we hope you'll find our game fun. :)
